Baby Monkey Quilt

September 13, 2009

*sigh*

I need something to do while waiting and waiting and waiting for this kid to come out.

I bought this pattern from Oh Fransson! awhile ago. I’ve never made a quilt before, so we’ll see how this turns out. Elizabeth’s instructions are very easy to follow.

I stopped by the Big Fabric store on my way home from work Friday, and spent well over an hour picking out fabric. *sigh* I ended up choosing all flannel because I did not like any of the basic cotton choices. {Oh, and not only did it take me an hour to choose the fabric, I waited forever for the lady to cut my fabric. Anyway, spent way too long at the Big Fabric store.

I do think the fabric is fun – even the rockin’ skull and crossbones!

Pre-washing and trimming the strands and ironing wiped me out (I am 6 days from my due date). So I went to the couch for awhile.

Then the cutting. Ugh. At least I’ve learned to label and organize at the beginning.

Baby Monkey Quilt-2

I made one block, one complete block, when I realized that our iron crapped out. Argh.

More tomorrow. When I can buy a new iron to press open the seams. Which makes the project look a bit better.

    […] tell you how selfish a sewer I am.  I don’t make Miles anything.  Haven’t since his baby quilt in 2009.  And Christine here is in the middle of making lots of super cute stuff for her […]

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
