FO: My Favorite Sweater. Finished!

Isn’t it lovely 🙂 I thoroughly enjoyed knitting this sweater. And I learned so much.

I was always hesitant to knit something that needed to fit. I wasn’t confident in my skills, specifically knitting consistently sized stitches. So I stuck to hats or scarves, moving to a lace shawl. One of my goals was to knit my own sweater, and when the class popped up on Fancy Tiger‘s class offerings, I signed up.

Its not perfect, and I guess I could rip it out and change the parts I’m not thrilled about. But for now, I’m going to enjoy wearing it.

More details on my Ravelry project page.

Lessons Learned:

  • backwards loop cast on
  • raglan sleeve shaping
  • basic bodice and sleeve shaping
  • sweater construction
  • using waste yarn to hold stitches
  • measuring gauge swatch
  • calculating the perfect fit for me

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
