Zoo Animals! Of the Stitched Kind…

January 24, 2011

023::365

Picked these little things up today, and I’m quite excited about them.

Complete impulse buy, as I was at Fancy Tiger {best crafty store ever} choosing binding and backing fabric for my quilt.  Can’t help but want to make every. single. thing. in the store. Forget that I’ve yet to embroider anything.  I decided to start with the elephant, hippo and one of the turtles.  I’m thinking I need to add embroidery to my list of portable crafts.

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
