FO: Mug Rug! {Pay it Forward 2011}

February 5, 2011

I am so glad its the weekend.

Last night, I finished up this little project for a dear friend. Its just a little larger than a coaster – enough room for a little snack to the side. So much fun to use every day!

I agreed early this year to Pay it Forward: 2011 and make something for 5 friends. I’m not sure where mug rugs came from, but I started seeing them on flickr and other places on the internet.

The lines and angles are a bit mish mash. And you can see where I cut a rectangle just a bit short. I totally made up the design as I went along.

Perfect Friday night project.

    Pay it forward as a resolution is very admirable. I have no doubt that your friend will enjoy this mug rug even with the slightly short rectangle. Very fun and whimsical.

    Very cute – I’ll bet she loves it! I like the green and yellow fabric with the circles!

    I think it’s wonderful, and you did a great job with it! I love your resolution, too. 🙂

    Nice work. I always invoke the Galloping Horse Rule (if you can’t see it from the back of a GH, it doesn’t matter) Sometimes we can drive ourselves crazy over 1/8″ than no one else will notice…. (Yes, I quilt)

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
