This is still a work in progress, but I finally got started setting up my sewing area. I had been using the dining room, which has been fine, except we’d actually like to use the dining room. You know, to eat.
I considered a number of options for a cutting table/work bench. I thought kitchen cabinet bases topped with a sheet of hemosote or MDF. Or a pair of sawhorses as a base.
I decided to go cheap (and portable) with a pair of adjustable height sawhorses and a sheet of melanine (?) topped MDF. All in all the set up cost about $70. I had these wire shelves already, and I’m going to use my desk for my sewing machine. I like the height of the work table; no more bending over to cut fabric. And shelves! Shelves to put my fabric!
The best thing about this space though? No more cleaning up after myself. I can leave unfinished projects just laying around.
