Thursday’s Swim

March 24, 2011

Next to me in the pool was a pregnant lady. Churning out her laps. I remember swimming pregnant. What a great feeling. It was probably the only time I didn’t feel pregnant. I do remember feeling like a huge buoy, bobbing along the water. Awesome!

This morning the plan called for:
*100 swim warm up
*4 x 50 kick w/ fins; :30 rest
*4 x 50 swim; :30 rest
*4 x 50 pull; :30 rest
*100 swim

Total: 800

I’m not even really sure how long this took. I realize I’m not a fast swimmer, and I’m ok with it 🙂 Moving through the water is getting easier. The plan I’m following gradually increases the distance weekly. The mix of sets and distances is keeping me engaged; swimming just isn’t an activity where I can just zone out.

I haven’t yet committed, but I am considering an Olympic distance triathlon in June and a half-Ironman distance tri in September…we’ll see!

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
