I know that we’re about 11 days into June, but I did set a goal of running 65 miles. In May, I logged 56.6 miles and I want to run more in June. You know, with my official start to marathon training.
This week I stuck to the plan with a long run on Sunday, a tempo run on Tuesday and the track workout with RMRR. I also managed to squeeze in a spin class on Wednesday. Of course she wants to do hills. Ugh, as if my legs weren’t already tired. Is is bad that I cheated and stayed at a 6-7 when she wanted us to go to 8?
I really enjoy the track workouts. Fortunately this year they’re held at a high school downtown, which is super close to the house. And the high school is super close to City Park, which is lovely. My sister is great in that she tags along and keeps Miles company while I’m huffing and puffing my way around the track.
And huff and puff is exactly what I (we) do. This week, I was the SLOWEST runner out there; usually I can count on at least one other person with me in the back of the pack. Its a forgiving group even though I was lapped by 3 people on the 1600. To get faster, I have to run faster and these structured workouts are great for that.
