Color by COLOURlovers

… is what I named my palette at Colour Lovers.  I was just messing around on the site, trying to find a color palette for this photo collage.  There are so many pretty pretty color combos.  Absolute inspiration.  The site totally sucked me in for close to an hour.  *sigh*  If you haven’t take a look, you really really should.  So. Fun.

Anyway, I was pretty productive this evening.  At least in getting the Big Thing done for my swap partner.  I thought about using one solid color for the back – a light gray or light pink.  But I didn’t have enough of the gray, and the pink just looked too see-through!  Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of the back included in this post, but I used a block of Robin Egg, a strip of Cerise and another block of Aqua.  It looks pretty good, I think!

I basted and quilted; deciding to keep it super simple and stick to short straight lines across the runner.  I first anchored the quilt sandwich by stitching in the ditch along the sashing seams.  Then I randomly added quilting lines as I saw fit.  I believe a few just might be crooked.  *sigh*

I’m still a bit undecided about the small thing  we’re supposed to include.  Do I want to make something? Or send some fabric? A small pouch? Needle book? Gym bag?  Fabric basket?  Pincushion? Hm, we’ll see on that one.

I’m excited for the long weekend.  I’m excited to sleep in.  I’m excited that JJ is home.  We absolutely have nothing planned.  (Well, except our fantasy football league draft in the morning.  But that’s more of a JJ thing even though I have a team too.  That he ends up managing for me.  Please don’t tell the other teams.  Thanks.) I do have a list of things I need to do (course work, grocery, laundry) and a list of things I want to do (long run, bike ride, farmer’s market, sewing).

I love these kinds of weekends.  The no-plan-whatsoever kind of weekends.  Especially lately, with the way work has been going. yikes. talk about stress. no wonder i haven’t been able to sleep.  I just want to spend time with my family.

Happy Friday!

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
