Talk about feeling productive. With a sense of accomplishment thrown in there too. I finished hand-sewing the binding on the table runner yesterday afternoon. I did that sitting in the back yard, watching Miles throw rocks around. My sister brought over beer (we love beer!) and it was nice to sit outside. The weather here in Denver has been gorgeous and we took full advantage.
For the binding, I decided against any additional color and stuck with the same light gray I used as the main fabric. I had thought about using the Kona Cerise, but decided that the bright pink might have been too much for a table runner. Either way, I hope my partner likes it. I’m always a bit worried that she won’t. But then again, I guess its all part of the experience, right?
I did decide to make a bag for her “small thing”. I found this tutorial at Crap I’ve Made and went with it. Talk about easy! I managed to make this start to finish in the time it took me to drink 3 cups of coffee. Seriously though, it did not take long. JJ had gone to the gym and I was able to throw this together in the time he was gone. Which wasn’t all that long. I probably could have finished quicker if I didn’t stop every 5 minutes to play with Miles.
My partner wanted a bag to take to the gym with her, and I hope this is ok. I made it out of a slate blue canvas with a light pink cotton lining. Its sturdy without being heavy; strong enough for a water bottle, keys and hand towel. Which, are the things I bring to the gym when I go to workout.
