Five Baht Elephant

my crafty home

I Love Mail from Strangers.

September 20, 2011

I mean, at least strangers that send cool stuff like this!

For The Love of Solids::What I received!

I got my package and I was all “Woah”.

First, my partner lives (almost) right up the road from me, which, for some reason I find funny.

Second, she’s amazingly talented. Her seams are perfect. The quilting is super straight. The blocks are square. I kinda feel bad for the person who received my package!

This swap was a lot of fun. I’ve said this before, but I love swaps because they are a challenge.  I’m forced to follow a set of rules, trying to figure out what my partner would like based on their online posts.  Its fun to flickr/blog stalk people with shared interests.  And the Flickr pool is just full of color and full of inspiration. I’m wanting to sew every single thing I saw there.

I’m excited for the upcoming projects I’ve got running around in my head.  I’ll write up another post soon.

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
