Something about cooler weather makes me want to knit.  I know, I know…I’m probably not the only one that sees knitting a cold weather hobby.  All that wool on your lap during the heat of summer isn’t all that inspiring. But the cool weather makes me think of hats and scarves and mittens.

As I was cleaning up my sewing space Friday evening, I came across my bag of leftover yarn.  Wanting a scarf or a cowl, I did a pattern search on Ravelry and came across the Honey Cowl

It is knitting up fairly easily so far – the pattern is simple and there is no counting involved.  Just repeat the pattern until desired length.  And I love this yarn, the Malabrigo Rios.  Its soft, squishy and an absolute dream to work with.  Love it love it love it.  I have one skein and a little extra leftover from my Little Liesl.  I’m leaving midweek for the East Coast for work; with the plane rides, I should have this finished by the time I return! Yay!

    I’m knitting up the herringbone cowl for mom. I found the pattern on the Purl Soho’s blog. It’s an easy stitch and looks pretty. I’m tempted to work on it while sitting in lectures at my conference this week!

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
