Five Baht Elephant

FO: Travel Pouch

November 16, 2011

I am on a roll!  This one makes 3 in a week that I’ve completed.  And it took me less than an hour to finish – that’s from cutting fabric to stuffing it full of embroidery supplies.

I omitted any sort of pockets or dividers in the bag, but used some canvas as interfacing to make it a bit sturdier.  My sister bought yards and yards of this slate blue canvas and I’m not sure what she planned to do with it.  Must have been on sale.

My blog friend Emma has stitched some cute cute animals and I’m all inspired to add some stitchy cuteness to my projects too!  I’ve had this Julie West Sublime Stitching packet for a very long time.  How cute is this??  I iron-on transferred some designs onto white fabric with the intent to embroider.  Not sure what I’ll do with them, if I ever finish them. I start embroidery projects, but don’t ever finish them.  Such a bad thing.

Potholder?
Applique on pouches?
Coasters?

I’m sure there are an endless number of ideas for these little guys.  Hope to show you all something soon.

    So so cute, why don’t you stitch them onto your lovely little zippy bags, I’m off to have a better look at that site xxx

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
