This one has been hibernating too long.  I decided to work on this because I don’t have any other projects in mind or planned.  And its been a long time since I made a garment.

I have the main fabric and the contrast/lining fabric all pre-washed and ready to go.  The pattern doesn’t require piping, but I think it makes a nice accent on the dark fabric.  I made the piping out of 1/8″ cording and the fabric I intend to use for the contrast/lining.  And I used this tutorial at Colette Patterns.  It was pretty easy.  I used the zipper foot; I thought I had a cording/piping foot, but I can’t find it. Its pretty exciting, making your own piping.  Right?  I mean, I was excited!

So far, I’ve got the lining cut out and most of the main fabric. Marking the pieces. *sigh* I hate cutting out the pattern/fabric.  And marking the pieces for the darts, circles and other things.  Well, I don’t really hate it. Its just not my favorite part of the garment making process.

Anyway, we’re spending Thanksgiving with JJ’s brother and his girlfriend in Omaha.  Omaha! I’ve been once, for work, a few years ago.  Didn’t get to go around much.  They have some things planned for us, so it should be a good time.  I’m mostly excited about not having to do any cooking!  Its a 9+ hour drive from Denver, so I’ve got some knitting and embroidery projects packed and ready to go.  I love portable crafts!

Happy Thanksgiving!

    I’d be excited to make my own binding too: ) not sure I’m up to making clothes though.
    I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, enjoy not cooking too.

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
