Five Baht Elephant

my crafty home

Brrr. It is cold.

And snowing.  Perfect day to stay in my pj’s and knit.  Ok, truthfully, I don’t want to clean or grocery shop or run errands.  And JJ has drill this weekend, so he’s not around for us to bug.

Remember these?  Yeah, well.  I frogged it.  The sock was too big, and I actually thought that they would be while knitting them up.  I don’t know why I continued with them.  So, rip rip rip.  And I would have started all over again, but I somehow lost 2 of my dpns.  2! I have no idea how that
happened, but I can’t find them.

So instead of knitting gifts, I started on a sweater tunic for me.  Yes, I am that selfish.  I cast on last night and I’m loving this yarn.  Its 100% merino superwash (no more JJ accidently felting my sweaters!) by Madelintosh, colorway Olivia.  Love their colors. Love the texture.  Its an absolute dream to knit.  Worth the $20 a skein?  I’d say so.

    Every time I go in to my LYS I have to touch the Madelinetosh yarn. One day I will splurge on it. You picked out such a delicious yellow as well. The sweater pattern is very unique and I can’t wait to see yours.

    fabulous yarn – i keep seeing this madelinetosh yarn on the blogs – i’ll have to investigate further as every colour i’ve seen is just gorgeous and makes me want to get some – even though it’s supposed to be summer here (it’s cold, windy and threatening rain at the minute)

    Hello, I came over from the Small Blog Meet. Your photography is beautiful and your projects look great! Can’t wait to see how the sweater tunic turns out, the yarn looks beautiful and I totally would have forgone working on gifts to use that yarn for myself instead, too.

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
