Maybe this is my color palette for the crystals mystery quilt? “A mystery quilt?” you ask, “What’s that?! It sounds exciting!” This was my question too when my quilty-worky friend mentioned this class she’s taking offered by a local quilt shop. Its an all day quilting extravaganza where each step of the quilt is given bit by bit. This type of project is completely unlike anything I’ve ever done, and I thought, “Why not?” And spending an entire day sewing outside of the house sounds wonderful to me right now.
I called and got a spot in the class, and the same day the fabric requirements and cutting instructions arrived in my email inbox. And now I’m trying to pick my fabrics. Since my stash is mostly 1/2 yard cuts or smaller, I have to go shopping. And I’ve been day dreaming of colors. Bright, bold colors. Much like you see here.
Split complementary is the color theory theme, I believe, of this palette. Where the colors are one off the opposite the color wheel. I picked the lime-y green and opposite that on the color wheel is that pink. On either side of that green is this yellow and aqua.
Since the pattern calls for 3 colors, I think I’m leaning towards the pink, yellow and aqua. What do you think?
