January 21, 2012

Awesome!  I’ve been spending some quality time with my sewing machine.

I’ve been slowly making progress on the Beignet.  I figured out how to use my blind hem foot.  I’m really not sure why I had such a hard time, but I was making it harder than I needed to.  And since I chopped about 2″ off the hem, I needed to chop 2″ off the lining hem too.  I am much shorter than I think I am!

I was moving right along with the buttonholes, until I ran out of thread. Whoops!

WIP: Beignet

I also finished up the Bee Blocks for MBB2.  I love the colors Annaliese sent out.  The bright colors made piecing this improv type block fun.

MBB January Block #2 Done!

And I’m on track with Week 2 of the Sparkle QAL.  The fabric is all cut out and I’m ready to go!

QAL: Cutting!

Off to the store for more thread!

    Norine – Thank you very much for visiting my blog. I was browsing through your blog the other day because the name of your blog caught my eyes since I am from Thailand but I was distracted at work and did not have a chance to post a comment.

    I love the color of your Beignet…can’t wait to see when it is done.
    The January block is lovely with such beautiful colors.
    I have not started to cut the fabrics for the Sparkle Quilt along yet. You are very fast. I will have to get started on mine soon.

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
