… you’ll feel better if you do.
That’s what I told myself. I actually brought my running stuff to work with me yesterday. Anticipating the 60+ degree weather, I was looking forward to running. Except I realized, as I was walking to my building gym bag in hand, that I left my running shoes AT HOME.
Disappointment.
So I worked late instead. Not a happy substitute.
With this greeting me this morning
there was no running outside. Its too cold to push Miles in the BOB and the gym has child care. Off to the treadmill. I typically hate the treadmill, but with JJ gone I’ve had to get creative with my time. And learn to be flexible. I’m learning to get over myself and the guilt of taking my kid from one day care to another. But I need to run. Miles needs me to run. And my half-marathon in a week needs me to run.
So, I did. I ran. I ran and ran and ran. Lip synching along with my iPod. Doing half-mile intervals from 6.4mph to 7mph. And I picked up my kid and went home and played and played and played with him.
Time well spent, all around. No guilt.

Way to go! I agree – Miles is a happier kid when his mom is a happier person – run when you need to and don’t feel guilty!
Good pace – I can hit 7mph for about .1 and then I have to back off – finally got over the 6mph hump tho, now if I would just stop getting injured I could build up distance too!
Good luck on your race – sooooo soon!! 🙂
