Remember how I said I wasn’t going to sign up for any more swaps? Well…. I did. I’m in for the Pretty Little Pouch Swap Round 4. I enjoyed Round 3, so why not? And its a little pouch – less than 12″. I can totally do that by the due date. I think there is still time to sign up, so go for it.
And I’m finally getting around to sewing something I can wear. Maybe its the spring weather we’ve been having, but I’ve got dresses on my mind. This one has been in my queue for 2 years, and I’m just now getting around to making it. So here’s me taping up the pattern pieces, with Sherlock Holmes going on in the back. By the way, how can there only be 3 episodes in Season 1? What were these people thinking?
By the way, the girl who designed and drafted the dress writes an awesome blog. AWESOME.
I’m making a muslin of the top to check the fit before moving on to the ‘good’ fabric. I decided to cut a size 36 top based on my bust measurement of 35″… Maybe its too big, but I’m thinking it might be easier to adjust smaller than larger given my linebacker-ish shoulders. I’m only up to basting the darts on both the front and the back so I can’t report yet on the fit.
On my way in to work this morning, I was thinking about the dress. I have some green linen type in my stash that would do well with this design. And I’m also thinking of using bias tape to bind the neckline and sleeves instead of using the facings. To be honest, I don’t much like facings!
One last bit of fun. I’m taking a paper-piecing class over at Fancy Tiger tomorrow night. I’m so excited to 1. learn something new and 2. do something just for me that didn’t involve running.
