May Bee Blocks

June 1, 2012

I knocked out two quilt blocks the other night. Yay me!  Of course, I wait until the end of the month to get to these quilt bee blocks.  (It has been a crazy busy May!)

This stepladder block was interesting.  Lisa didn’t send enough yellow/orange squares to follow the cutting directions exactly, but I was able to cut some of the triangles individually to fill out the block.  This was fun to put together and I like the end result.  Can’t wait to see the finished quilt.

Here’s the other block.  I love wonky stars.  Christina is making a quilt for her husband.  She’s so nice.  I’ve made JJ exactly 2 things.  Neither one a quilt.  I’m not so nice I guess.

I have a bunch of other stuff in works.  Mostly baby gifts. Everyone’s having babies!  Which is super exciting.  I love sewing for babies.  I hope to have them complete soon so I can share them here with you.

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
