I have a quilt top! (and cute kid behind the quilt top!) And I love it! It was a lot of work. A lot. I solidly worked on it almost everyday -well, every night after Miles went to bed. I followed the book’s instructions pretty much exactly, except when assembling the columns for quilt top. They were all laid out in order, then I stacked them one on top of each other, and forgot what order I gathered them in. So, the left most column is really supposed to be the far right column. I don’t think it really matters – at least not to me – but that’s been the only deviation from the written directions.
Oh, one more mistake. And this might be my own mistake, not any errata in the book. I ended up with an extra small block. When putting together the quilt top, I figured out which column was missing a block (it was much shorter than the two columns on either side). Easy fix.
And here’s my geek out for this post. Look at how I completely nerded out with my project planning/tracking. I’m not really sure what I’m trying to accomplish with this spreadsheet, but I like it. Quantifying my efforts in a datasheet really excites me. I mean, having a completed quilt top excites me too, but this spreadsheet really pushes me over the edge.
Its really a toss up at this point, which excites me more, the actual completed quilt top, or my nerdy spreadsheet… Anyone else think I’m a nerd?

Your spreadsheet is like an adorable souvenir of the quilt – funny, I love it. I’m such a wing it kind of quilter and change my mind at least a few times along the way, not too nerdy I guess. The quilt is precious with the gentle colors and cute kid in the pic! Congrats on the finish.
oh my, Norine, I think if I worked out how much my quilts cost to make it would make me queasy! Loving your glam garlands
Love your nerdy spreadsheet, now it might me a nerd too but all I could think is oh I should do something like that so I can figure out where I am on all of random projects. However, I think I would/hate to know how much it costs me. Mostly because my hubby might see it and then there could be some discourse. I think it is better if he just knows how much goes out at one time, not the total of how much one project really costs me.
Love the spread sheet – it’s something I need to do especially when I’m mmaking/selling custom quilts.
And you have a cute sister behind that quilt too. 🙂
