Tonight

March 28, 2013

Hello folks! So, maybe you’ve heard, but Google Reader is going away. Which makes me quite sad, because I love it. It seems most of the blogs I follow have moved over to Bloglovin‘ and I’m doing the same thing. Join me, if you will. Follow my blog with Bloglovin Or you can subscribe via email. Just sign up over to the right sidebar.

My day started pretty craptastic. Miles and I got into a yelling match while getting ready to leave – not my proudest mom-moment. I left my coffee by the back door. I didn’t want to go to work. blah blah blah Big picture, I know, not that big of a deal. Especially since I (mostly) love my job. But sheesh. And JJ has been working ridiculously long hours the past few days, so not having him around bums me out too. sigh

I came home. My sister (bless her) hung out with Miles while I went for a run – in shorts and a tshirt! I’d like to think spring is here, but we did get 10″ of snow over the weekend, so its a crapshoot. Typical Colorado. Where else can you experience all 4 seasons within one week? Running always makes me feel better, so all that crap this morning was forgotten.

new machine

AND my new sewing machine arrived.
AND I got it all set up, oiled, threaded and ran a few lines of test stitches.

My latest work-in-progress is a Carpenter Star block. I dug through my larger scraps for this one. It should come out to an 18″ block. I’ll try to make another one, maybe a smaller block of another star? We’ll see where this goes.

half-square triangles

Here’s a confession: I’m not that fond of half-square triangles. There. I said it. Its the trimming. I find it pretty tedious and not all that rewarding.  again, sigh.

That’s all I got folks. I’m about to go to bed. I’m up early tomorrow for a swim before work.

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
