I had the best birthday celebration.
I flew east to DC and met up with two of my very best girls, Heather and Nicole. Like the NoLa 1/2, we started the race playing the alphabet game. Nic convinced us to buy these super fun knee socks for the race, and we received so many compliments on them from other runners! These two are in much better shape than me, so I dropped back around mile 5. They both finished around 1:30, and my chip time was 1:36:32. After the last water point (mile 8ish), I stopped to take some photos. It was peak cherry blossom season, and I grabbed a few shots before running again.
You’ll see that instead of getting the Washington Monument in the background of my self-portrait, there are two lovely green porta potties. Ha!
And now I’m back in Denver. Where it has been steadily snowing for the past 18 hours. And I just found out that my work is closed for today. Happy Birthday to me, indeed!
