Progress: Summer Stitching

August 8, 2013

summerstitching

I didn’t think I’d enjoy embroidery so much.  Who knew?

Ten weeks into Wild Olive’s Summer Stitching Club and I’m only two weeks behind. I’ll catch up quick, I’m sure, seeing as how I knocked out three pieces just the other day. While sitting on the porch. Drinking a mimosa (or two).

And all my fabric hexagons are finished. The embroidered ones are not. I need to wash out the marker I used to trace the designs before I do that. I have no good reason why I’m not done with that; I just haven’t gotten around to it.

Carol asked what I’m going to do with them once I’m finished. It’ll stitch up to a small wall hanging. Which may go up somewhere in the house. Or it may not.

But, yeah. I like stitching these little guys. They’re cute. Its a nice, portable craft – like knitting.

      I like the little designs so far. And you’re welcome – Though your blog post didn’t need my help.

    I can’t wait to see what this becomes. So cute. I don’t know if it is your style or not, but have you seen this? http://www.littlemissshabby.com/birdie-stitches/ There is a flickr group that’s fun to peruse to see the pattern in other color combos. http://www.flickr.com/groups/birdiestitches/

::The Name::

Five Baht Elephant. My mother is from Thailand, where elephants are royal animals. Growing up Mom would tell us to save our pennies, "in case a man came to our door selling elephants." At the time we thought it was the most absurd thing ever. Now I realize it was the Thai version of saving for a rainy day. Lets hope that we can buy an elephant for only five baht!
